NFL Notes: Bills, Broncos, Lions, Raiders, & Seahawks

Bills

  • Head coach Rex Ryan named QB Matt Cassel the starter for the preseason opener on Friday but didn’t specify how much playing time each quarterback would see. (Chris Brown)

Broncos

  • Rand Getlin mentions that it would not be surprising to see the Broncos name Matt Paradis their starting center at some point in the near future, as he’s taken over first-team reps the last four practices.

Lions

  • Lions DT Haloti Ngata could be limited to playing just 50-60 percent of the team’s defensive snaps this season, according to Jason Cole.
  • Cole mentions that Detroit will likely employ a four-player rotation at defensive tackle.
  • Cole considers DE Ziggy Ansah to be a critical player for the Lions’ defense in 2015, but he’ll need to improve his pass-rushing moves to reach his potential.

Raiders

  • ESPN’s Adam Caplan expects Raiders rookie TE Clive Walford to have a “significant role” in the team’s offense this season.

Seahawks

  • According to Adam Caplan, Seahawks DE Frank Clark has been the most impressive rookie he’s heard about from teams through the first week of training camps.
  • Caplan notes that Clark is being “cross trained” at various defensive line positions.
