NFL Notes: Bills, Buccaneers, Cardinals, & Falcons

Bills

Bills HC Rex Ryan expressed a great deal of frustration with K Dan Carpenter and expects to be in the market for a kicker in the coming days.

“I’m tired of missing field goals,” Ryan said, via Syracuse.com. “We have a kickoff guy and we miss field goals. I don’t get it. So we’ll certainly be looking out there. I don’t know if there’s any out there, but nobody gets this job by default. You have to earn your way out here. I’m very disappointed in that, and I don’t care who knows it.”

Buccaneers

  • Buccaneers HC Lovie Smith told reporters after Thursday’s preseason game that DE Larry English and G Garrett Gilkey both sustained what appeared to be “significant” knee injuries. (Roy Cummings)

Cardinals

  • Mike Jurecki projects the Cardinals to cut QBs Logan Thomas and Phillips Sims. However,
  • Jurecki mentions that Sims may have a slight edge over Thomas to end up on the team’s practice squad.
  • Jurecki doesn’t see veteran DL Matt Shaughnessy or NT Alameda Ta’amu making the team.
  • According to Jurecki, the Cardinals would like to add a veteran cornerback, which could leave S Chris Clemons on the roster bubble.
