NFL Notes: Bills, Colts, Jaguars, Panthers, & Rams

Bills

Bills HC Rex Ryan told reporters Thursday that he’s “not giving up on” RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) playing in Week 2.

“Do I expect him to play?” Ryan asked, via ESPN.com. “I certainly hope so.”

Ryan asked about whether they would turn rookie Karlos Williams as their start against the Patriots if McCoy can’t go.

I don’t even want to think that way, but yeah, it would be definitely [next man up],” Ryan said. “But like I said, I’m not giving up on McCoy playing.”

Colts

  • Stephen Holder is “somewhat less convinced” that Colts WR T.Y. Hilton will play in Week 2 after speaking to him.
  • Holder also isn’t all that optimistic about Colts CB Greg Toler returning this, as he remains week to week with a neck injury.

Jaguars

Panthers

Panthers HC Ron Rivera said if there is any doubt about ILB Luke Kuechly being ready to play, “We won’t play him.”

“He’s chomping at the bit,” Rivera said, via ESPN.com. “This is tough on him, because there’s a protocol and you have to follow it. He wants to be out there in the worst kind of way.

“It’s one of those things where we can’t let him get ahead of himself. He’s also got to be up front about everything and honest, because he wants to be on the field so bad.”

Rams

  • Rams running backs Todd Gurley (knee) and Tre Mason (hamstring) both put in full practices for the second day in a row on Thursday. (Jim Thomas)
