NFL Notes: Bills, Colts, Steelers, & Texans

Bills

  • Jeff Howe mentions that it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bills show interest in recently released QB Ryan Mallett, given that they were among the interested teams last offseason.

Colts

  • Jason Cole has spoken to a source who said that Colts owner Jim Irsay is “seriously discussing” the possibility of firing HC Chuck Pagano during the season.
  • If the Colts do, in fact, end up parting ways with Pagano, Cole mentions that it will likely be during their bye week.
  • As for potential replacements, Cole lists DC Greg Manusky, OC Pep Hamilton, assistant HC Rob Chudzinski, and QBs coach Clyde Christensen as four names to watch.

Steelers

  • Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he would “like to play“, but that “it’s Coach’s decision” during his radio show. (Aditi Kinkhabwala)
  • Mike Tomlin said of Roethlisberger: “As I sit here today, we’re comfortable with him in terms if his overall ability.” (Aditi Kinkhabwala)
  • Tomlin added: “We’re going to need him.” (Aditi Kinkhabwala)
