NFL Notes: Bills, Cowboys, Dolphins, Giants, & Steelers

  • Jason Cole reports that during head coaching interviews, Bills GM Doug Whaley said that they wanted to keep former first-round QB EJ Manuel and continue working to develop him.
It’s worth mentioning that it was Whaley’s decision to trade Matt Cassel to the Cowboys, and move forward with Manuel as their backup to Tyrod Taylor.
According to Cole, should Manuel struggle in the coming weeks, Whaley could end up being the fall guy in Buffalo.

  • Jason Cole of B/R reports that the Dolphins are becoming more concerned with WR Jarvis Landry now that he’s been involved in multiple incidents this season.

  • Giants HC Tom Coughlin says WR Victor Cruz is rehabbing indoors with trainers and has yet to be cleared to begin work on the field. (Ralph Vacchiano)

  • Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is not expected to start this week and is running the show offense for the defense Wednesday. (Ed Werder)
  • Ed Werder reports the team will be very cautious with Roethlisberger and plan to assess him at the end of each week to make sure he can move and protect himself.
