NFL Notes: Bills, Cowboys & Dolphins

Bills

According to Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com, the team could look to third-year LB Nigel Bradham to replace Kiko Alonso in the starting lineup now that Alonso is expected to miss the entire season with a torn ACL.

In his first two years in the NFL, Bradham has appeared in all 32 games and recorded 110 tackles. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 288 snaps last year, but he was a very effective linebacker, according to their ratings.

Conversely, Tim Graham reports that sources have informed him that the Bills are “looking at rookie Preston Brown” to replace Alonso this season.

Both the coaching staff and front office have been impressed with Brown throughout offseason workouts, according to Graham.

Cowboys

Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas mentions that the Cowboys could still use a blocking tight end and possibly keep an eye out for players who could end up being available in the coming months.

As of now, the Cowboys have Jason Wittin, Gavin Escobar and James Hanna as their top-three options at tight end. Behind Witten, they really don’t have a reliable blocking tight end.

At this point in time, the available tight end market is limited to put it mildly, so they could monitor some players who could be competing for roster spots on other NFL rosters in the event that they are cut loose.

Dolphins

  • Former Dolphins linebacker Marcus Thompson went unclaimed off waivers and is now a free agent.
