Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Bills are planning as if RB LeSean McCoy to miss “several games” once his current legal case is settled.
According to Rapoport, the Bills will either sign or draft a running back to bolster their depth at the position should McCoy, in fact, receive a suspension from the NFL.
McCoy is currently under investigation for his role in a February 7 incident that left two off-duty officers hospitalized.
ABC 6 Philadelphia reported earlier in the day that McCoy is scheduled to meet with the Philadelphia district attorney Tuesday regarding the incident. However, there hasn’t been many updates since then.
McCoy, 27, will be entering the second year of his five-year, $40 million contract that included $26.05 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $4.8 million for the 2016 season.
In 2015, McCoy appeared in 12 games for the Bills and ran for 895 yards on 203 carries (4.4 YPC) to go along with 32 receptions for 292 yards receiving and five total touchdowns for the Bills. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 running back out of 67 qualifying players.
