Broncos

  • Gil Brandt mentions that it won’t be surprising to see the Broncos hire Wade Phillips as their next defensive coordinator given his ties to new HC Gary Kubiak.

Browns

  • According to Chris Russell, although former Browns OC Kyle Shanahan wouldn’t say it publicly, he “wanted nothing to do with Johnny Manziel.

Chiefs

  • The Kansas City Star is reporting that the Chiefs are no longer in the running for CFL WR Duron Carter.

Colts

Colts GM Ryan Grigson told reporters on Friday that OLB Robert Mathis (Achilles) may not be ready for the start of the 2015 season.

“No, he’s still in recovery,” Grigson said when asked if he’s confident Mathis will be ready for training camp, via Mike Wells of ESPN. “He’s a freak and you hope that he has an athletic genetic freak type of recovery so that he’s ready day one of training camp. But that information is not clear yet or a timeline is not there because it’s a tough injury. Hopefully in a couple months from now, we’ll be able to have some information on that.
