NFL Notes: Broncos, Cardinals, Cowboys, Dolphins, Raiders

Broncos

  • Troy Renck mentions that the Broncos could look internally for a replacement to Adam Peters, who departed for a position with the 49ers.
  • Renck points out that Matt Russell is John Elway’s right-hand man.

Cardinals

  • Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald said he expects to announce whether he’ll return to the team for the 2017 season or retire “pretty soon.” (Darren Urban)
  • Fitzgerald added that he has pretty much made up his mind regarding what he wants to do but said he plans to take “a couple more days, a couple more weeks” before making an announcement. (Darren Urban)

Cowboys

  • Todd Archer of ESPN wonders if the Cowboys should consider making a Julio Jones-type trade and moving up in this year’s draft for a pass-rusher or cornerback.
  • Dallas is currently sitting at No. 28 overall, so it would obviously be a costly move for them to trade up in round one for a single player.

Dolphins

  • Adam Caplan reports that Dolphins MLB Kiko Alonso underwent thumb surgery after the team’s final game.
  • According to Caplan, Alonso’s recovery time is expected to be about six weeks or so.
  • Caplan also reports that the Dolphins interviewed former Saints assistant/LBs James Willis for their defensive coaching position.

Raiders

  • Nathan Fenno reports that Goldman Sachs’ deal to finance a Las Vegas stadium for the Raiders is contingent on Sheldon Adelson’s involvement.
  • According to Fenno, without Adelson involved, there isn’t a deal for the Raiders.
  • The Raiders previously presented to the NFL upon applying for relocation earlier this month information centered around Goldman Sachs financing the project without Adelson.
  • While this clearly isn’t a great development for the Raiders’ Las Vegas hopes, Ian Rapoport points out that there is no real deadline for a deal between the team and Sheldon Adelson and it’s still possible they could reach an agreement at some point.
