NFL Notes: Broncos, Cardinals, Redskins

Broncos

  • Mike Jurecki is the latest to mention Vikings free agent QB Case Keenum as a contingency option for the Broncos if they miss out on Kirk Cousins.
  • Jurecki adds that Keenum’s should end up securing an annual salary of $17-19M per year on the open market.
  • According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, there has been more and more talk about the Broncos focusing their search on Keenum.

Cardinals

  • Tim McManus of ESPN writes that the Cardinals could make some sense a potential landing spot for Eagles QB Nick Foles this offseason.
  • McManus points out that Arizona doesn’t have a single quarterback under contract for 2018 season right now and plan to be “very aggressive” in finding a long-term solution at the position.
  • McManus says that Foles could be a bridge option for them to consider, considering that he has a manageable cap figure of $7.6 million.
  • Arizona has an extra third-round pick this year after they lost Calais Campbell to the Jaguars in free agency.
  • One other consideration is that in order for the Eagles to get the best return possible, Foles likely would have to sign an extension with the team trading for him. Foles has ties to Arizona, as both he and his wife, Tori, attended the University of Arizona.
  • Mike Jurecki says that the Cardinals would like to retain free agent LB Josh Bynes but he also thinks they’ll add a linebacker at some point the draft or sign an undrafted free agent.
  • Wisconsin TE Troy Fumagalli met with three teams at the Combine including the Cardinals. (Mike Jurecki)

Redskins

  • John Keim of ESPN writes that 2018 should be a make-or-break season for Redskins president Bruce Allen based on his record.
  • Keim notes that Washington is 52-71-1 in the eight full seasons under Allen, which includes one division title and two playoff losses.
  • Even so, Keim adds that it probably would take a really bad year for Allen to be replaced.
  • According to Keim, the Redskins really like Browns free agent RB Isaiah Crowell, given that he can also contribute in the passing game. Keim isn’t sure if Washington will pursue Crowell, but he’s at least someone to keep an eye on.
  • As for the draft, Keim seems to think the Redskins could consider a running back in round two.
