NFL Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Vikings

Broncos

David Migoya of the Denver Post writes the Broncos will have two years to to determine who will take over for long-time owner Pat Bowlen or consider selling the team.

The expectation is that one of Bowlen’s seven children will take over, but no decision has been at this time.

The Broncos have released a statement regarding the situation:

“Owner Pat Bowlen has indicated a strong desire to keep specifics of his estate planning private, and the Denver Broncos intend to honor his wishes.

“While Mr. Bowlen’s long-term hope is for one of his children to run the team, any speculation on the transition of his ownership to one of them is premature. No timetable has been set for that process by the organization of the National Football League.

“There are no plans for the sale of the Denver Broncos, and the Pat Bowlen Trust will continue to implement the provisions set forth by Mr. Bowlen to keep the team in the Bowlen family.”

Chargers

  • RB Danny Woodhead was carted off the field after he suffered an ankle injury.
  • Michael Gehlken is “hearing the worst” regarding Danny Woodhead injury and, at this point in time, a severe high ankle sprain could be best case scenario.
