NFL Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Jets, Raiders, & Ravens

Broncos

  • Jeff Legwold reports that the Broncos are still hoping the Bengals change their minds and allow DBs coach Vance Joseph to take their defensive coordinator job.
  • According to Legwold, Denver is moving forward and doing work on other potential candidates for the position.

Chargers

  • CFL DB Delvin Breaux visited the San Diego Chargers this week. (Aaron Wilson)

Jets

  • New GM Mike Maccagnan said that they still plan to build through the draft, but they’ll also be “very active in free agency.

“Building through the draft is ideally what I want to do, but we’ll be very active in free agency,” Maccagnan said.

Raiders

  • Jerry McDonald points out that former Falcons HC Mike Smith has been targeted for the Raiders defensive coordinator job from the start.
  • New HC Jack Del Rio is likely to give Smith more autonomy as defensive coordinator based on his experience, according to McDonald.

Ravens

  • Aaron Wilson reports that the Ravens are considering former Jets OC Marty Mornhinweg for their quarterbacks coach job.

  1. What a crock of ****. The Rooney Rule should allow African Americans to interview for a position, but yet Marvin Lewis/M. Brown are not giving permission for Joseph to interview.
