NFL Notes: Broncos, Chargers & Lions

Broncos

Broncos S T.J. Ward mentioned that the quarterback competition between Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch has been “pretty even” up to this point.

“They’ve all worked with the 1s, 2s and 3s,” Ward said, via NFL.com. “We have seen them work with different receivers in the starting offense and second-string offense. I’m not sure. They all look well. … Sometimes you really in practice have to see who threw the ball or who is starting with the 1’s because they’re pretty even.”

Chargers

  • Jason Cole reports that a poll released by Competitive Edge Research in San Diego says the Chargers downtown stadium proposal likely won’t pass or even garner 50 of the vote, as opposed to a potential 2/3 requirement.
  • Cole mentions that this would leave the Chargers with their current Mission Valley site or Inglewood along with some other alternative sites.

Lions

  • According to Dave Birkett, the Lions took this long to release ILB Stephen Tulloch because he was unable to pass a physical from ankle surgery until Tuesday.
  • Birkett points out the Lions would have owed Tulloch $1.1 million as part of an injury protection settlement, which would have counted against the team’s salary cap.
