NFL Notes: Broncos, Packers, Texans, Vikings

Broncos

Broncos HC Vance Joseph announced Monday that they’re sticking with Trevor Siemian as their starting quarterback, despite his recent struggles.

“Absolutely. He’s our quarterback,” Joseph said, per Nicki Jhabvala. “He can’t play well if he’s not being protected.

“He can play better, absolutely. But it’s not a Trevor problem. It’s the unit’s problem.”

Packers

  • Packers HC Mike McCarthy explained that Aaron Rodgers‘ broken collarbone is serious enough that it’s at least an eight-week injury: “There’s a reason he’s on IR. It’s a minimum of eight weeks and the worst-case scenario he’d be lost for the season.” (Rob Demovsky)
  • As for QB Brett Hundley, McCarthy says they plan to look for ways to get him opportunities: “Have to look at opportunities. He will do better. His issues were more in time clock, timing. We’ll be better next time.” (Tom Silverstein)
  • McCarthy also said of Hundley: “I know this young man. I believe in him.” (Tom Silverstein)

Texans

  • Texans HC Bill O’Brien said Monday that he could see LT Duane Brown playing in Sunday’s game against the Seahawks, despite ending his holdout and reporting to the team today. (Sarah Barshop)
  • O’Brien said of Brown’s return to the team: “Good to have him back. He’s in good shape.” (Aaron Wilson
