NFL Notes: Browns, Chargers, Cardinals, Dolphins, Packers, Vikings

Browns

  • Josina Anderson reports that there’s currently “no rush” for the Browns to replace assistant head coach/offense Pep Hamilton. Instead, Anderson’s source said that team could stillĀ go in “several directions.
  • According to Anderson, the Browns believeĀ “there are several guys who are capable on the staff” who could replace Hamilton.
  • Anderson mentions that offensive assistant/WRs coach Al Saunders was previously Jackson’s offensive coordinator in Oakland.

Cardinals

  • According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, the Cardinals actually offered DE Jason Pierre-Paul more money as a free agent last year. However, Pierre-Paul elected to return to New York on a bit of a discount.
  • Earlier in the day, Pierre-Paul made it clear he won’t be signing another one-year contract this offseason and plans to target a long-term contract. (NFLTR)

Chargers

  • Jason La CanforaĀ reports that the Chargers plan to interview two more candidates after meeting withĀ Lions DC Teryl AustinĀ but will then begin to narrow their search.

Dolphins

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald takes a look at the Dolphins’ entire roster as they enter the offseason and where things currently stand in his latest article.

  • Jackson says that the Dolphins are expected to “make every effort” to re-sign WR Kenny Stills. Even so, Jackson believes Miami will move on from him if his asking price gets too high.
  • In regards to WR Jarvis Landry, Jackson believes they’ll likely offer him an extension in the coming months.
  • Jackson writes that one question for the Dolphins’ offensive line group will be whether they approach LT Brandon
  • Albert about taking a pay cut from his $8.9 million salary, given that Laremy Tunsil is clearly their left tackle of the future.
  • Jackson can’t see Jermon Bushrod or TE Jordan Cameron returning next year.
  • Dolphins LB Kiko Alonso is in line to be a restricted free agent and Jackson seems to think Miami will use the highest tender on him.

Packers

  • Michael Cohen reports that the Packers renegotiated TE Beau Sandland’s contract on December 26 and increased his salary from $117,300 to $170,000.

Vikings

  • Alex Marvez reports that the Vikings have fired QBs coach Scott Turner, which probably isn’t a surprising considering that his father, Norv, resigned as offensive coordinator during the year.
