Browns LB Jamie Collins has impressed DC Gregg Williams with his overall skill set and the things he’s capable of doing for their defense.
“He was a high school quarterback and really would have liked to play quarterback in college,” Williams said, via the Akron Beacon Journal. “He’s begging me to play free safety, and I’m not saying he couldn’t be the best one out there right now.
“If he wants to play defensive end, he could play defensive end. There are a lot of things about his versatility that it’s going to be fun and challenging to find spots to cut him loose and let him go.”
Dolphins DT Ndamukong Suh spoke highly of first-round pick DE Charles Harris and of what he’s shown them up to this point.
“Charles, in my opinion, is a very focused kid,” Suh said, via the Palm Beach Post. “I’m very excited about his approach to the game. Very detail-oriented. Obviously takes coaching very, very well. Implements it very quickly, as you coach him up, in games.”
Suh confirmed that Harris has been working with the first-team unit and is expected to be part of their rotation at defensive end this year.
“Obviously, he’s been running with the ones and getting a lot of play time in our package that we like [to] run, in regards to pass rush,” Suh said. “He’s had a lot of good things, in my opinion, but everybody’s got a lot of work to do. We’ve got a long way ahead of ourselves.”
Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr mentioned that he doesn’t think he’s ever felt as good or as ready for anything as he does right now.
“I don’t think so,” Beckham said, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN. “I think this might be the most [I’ve been ready] in my lifetime. In every which way, I just feel it there. … I’ve really been training, and to have these next six weeks to get another opportunity to train, it’s going to be great.
“Just like you said — mentally, physically, spiritually, everything. I don’t think I’ve been as ready as I am now.”
