NFL Notes: Buccaneers, Chargers, Jaguars & Vikings

Buccaneers

  • Buccaneers RB Doug Martin mentioned that he was able to participate in individual drills on Wednesday and plans to do more today. Martin added that his hamstring feels fine following yesterday’s session. (Scott Smith)
  • Martin also said that he’s hoping to play against the Bears this weekend. (Rick Stroud)

Chargers

Chargers QB Philip Rivers said he was disappointed that the ballot measure to finance a new stadium didn’t pass on Tuesday but he’s still optimistic about the team remaining in San Diego.

“As you can imagine we’re all disappointed,” Rivers said, via the San Diego Union-Tribune. “We certainly were hoping for better than that. Like we’ve always said, especially where we are in the midst of a season, we can’t get too caught up in it and what it all exactly means. Just try to do our part and find a way to beat the Dolphins and get to 5-5 before the bye. … Vice versa, the love from the team to the city and the city to the team have been awesome over the last 55 years and the last 13 I’ve been here. I can’t see us not here. As you all know, I’m always optimistic in every situation.”

Jaguars

  • The Jaguars announced that WR Allen Hurns (concussion) will return to practice on Thursday on a limited basis. (Michael DiRocco)
  • Although, Hurn has not yet been fully cleared from the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Vikings

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer told reporters on Thursday that he has “no idea” when DT Sharrif Floyd will practice or appear in a game, via the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Zimmer offered an interesting comment about Floyd when asked why they didn’t place him on injured reserve: “We didn’t think it was going to be six years’ worth of hurt.
