NFL Notes: Cardinals, Chargers, Lions, Patriots, & Steelers

Cardinals

Dockett said of playing the Cardinals next year and signing with the 49ers: “I’m excited to play with so much talent in San Francisco, and can’t wait to play the Cardinals.” (Mike Jurecki)

Chargers

  • Chargers free agent CB Brandon Flowers said he is “hoping” to re-sign with the Chargers, but he isn’t very concerned about hitting the open market. (NFL.com)

Lions

Patriots

  • Jeff Howe reports that free agent RB Shane Vereen is now reportedly seeking $3.5 million per year in his next contract.
  • However, Howe’s source mentioned that the Pats have shown no willingness to pay him that kind of money.

Steelers

Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports reports that Steelers S Troy Polamalu wants to play another year, which could create an awkward situation for Pittsburgh.

Yesterday, there was talk that the Steelers wanted Polamalu to retire rather than having to release one of their most popular players.

However, it appears as though they do not have plans to bring him back next year. At least not at his current salary.
