NFL Notes: Cardinals, Falcons, Giants, Packers & Patriots

Cardinals

  • Former first-round pick G Jonathan Cooper has “a ways to go” and could lose the starting position to G Earl Watford. (Dan Pompei)
  • Rookies QB Logan Thomas and WR John Brown are looking like they will be the future of the Cardinals offense. (Dan Pompei)
  • Unsurprisingly, WR Michael Floyd looks set for a big year, and could be the Cardinals’ No.1 wide receiver. (Dan Pompei)
  • The Cardinals plan to get RB Andre Ellington the ball “20 or so” times a game, and they will aim to limit his carries between the tackles. (Kent Somers)

Falcons

Giants

Packers

  • When the Packers drafted recently traded DL Jerel Worthy with the 51st pick in the 2012 Draft, they liked current Bucs LB Lavonte David, but felt it was too early to select him.  David was picked 59th, a pick the Packers moved up from to select Worthy. (Bob McGinn)

Patriots

  • First-round pick DL Dominique Easley struggled in one-on-one pass rush drills in a joint practice with the Eagles, but G Todd Herremans noted that Easley had “a good get-off on the ball.” (Mike Reiss)
  • LB Jerod Mayo‘s absence extended to a second-day.  The reason for his absence is unknown. (Mike Reiss)
