NFL Notes: Chargers, Cowboys, Jaguars, & Lions

Chargers

  • Alex Marvez reports that the Chargers are restructuring their personnel department, which includes the dismissal of at least one staff member.

Cowboys

Cowboys HC Jason Garrett mentioned that WR Dez Bryant‘s rehab is going well, but he’s still “day-by-day, week-by-week.

“He’s done a really good job with his rehab, and he’s made progress,” coach Garrett said, via ESPN.com. “Like with all those guys, it’s a day-by-day, week-by-week thing. But he’s had no setbacks, but he really continues to get better and better.”

Garrett added that as soon as Bryant is healthy, he’ll be back to a regular workload.

“I don’t think there’s any balance. It’s all about just being healthy,” Garrett said. “As soon as he’s healthy, he’ll get integrated back in. He’s doing everything we’re asking him to do with his rehab, and he’s making progress. There will be different thresholds he’ll have as we would with any injured player, ‘He’s doing this well, let’s take the next step. He’s doing this well, let’s take the next step.’ So we’ll do that with him, and hopefully over the course of the offseason and into training camp he’ll start playing some football with us.”

Jaguars

  • Jaguars HC Gus Bradley mentioned that Brandon Linder is getting majority of his reps at center this year. (Michael DiRocco)
  • Jaguars signed seventh-round DE Jonathan Woodard to a four-year deal.

Lions

Lions HC Jim Caldwell declined to offer an update LB Stephen Tulloch’s status with the team.

“I think Bob [Quinn] has talked to you at length about that one,” Caldwell said, via ESPN.com. “Know him and love him, but I think Bob’s answered that question.”

This has become one of the strangest situations in the NFL, as the Lions previously informed Tulloch of their plans to move on. However, they’ve paid him $500,000 roster bonus and even released some other players earlier in the week to create room for undrafted signings.
