NFL Notes: Chargers, Jaguars, Redskins, Texans

Chargers

Chargers new HC Anthony Lynn told reporters on Tuesday that they plan to take a cautious approach to Keenan Allen‘s return from an ACL tear.

“It was good to see him back,” Lynn said, per Eric D. Williams. “He’s been released by the doctors, so he’s full go. We’re just working him in a little bit at a time.

Allen is currently eight months removed from ACL surgery and has been cleared for OTA workouts and considered to be ahead of schedule.

Jaguars

  • The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that they’ve signed fifth-round LB Blair Brown to a four-year contract.

Redskins

Redskins HC Jay Gruden said S DeAngelo Hall, who is working his way back from a torn ACL, could “start the season” on the PUP list.

“I don’t have a target date for him,” Gruden said, via John Keim of ESPN.

Keim points out that Hall will count $5.1 million against the Redskins’ salary cap, which is really high for someone who may not be a starter. However, Keim says that Hall’s value to the team is his leadership, so they may wait to see how he looks before making a call on him.

Texans

  • Albert Breer writes that Brain Gaine, who just recently agreed to become the Bills’ new VP of player personnel could be a tough void to fill.
  • Breer mentions that Gaine had become a big of a liaison between the coaching staff and the scouting department, given that he had strong relationships with most of HC Bill O’Brien‘s staff.
