NFL Notes: Chiefs, Eagles, Jets, Panthers

Chiefs

  • Chiefs HC Andy Reid said he is not concerned about S Eric Berry missing his second straight practice with a heel injury: “I’m not too worried about that, no. I think he’ll be all right.” (Terez A. Paylor)
  • Reid added that TE Travis Kelce (shoulder) has a “good chance” to be ready for training camp after missing the offseason program.
  • As for G Parker Ehringer‘s recovery from a torn ACL, Reid said “it will be a race” for him to be ready for camp.

Eagles

Eagles WR Jordan Matthews said he expects to be completely recovered from a lingering knee injury in time for training camp.

I didn’t like last year, having to be out of training camp, and then having to go straight into Week 1,” said Matthews, via Les Bowen of the Philly.com. “That’s not me. It’s never been me. This has been a hard time. At the same time, it is what it is. So I’m just going to do my best to get back to 100 percent so I can be out there with the guys.

Jets

Jets QB Christian Hackenberg said he is not concerned about the media’s concerns about how he has performed during the offseason program.

I don’t pay attention to [media reports]. You guys have a job to do, and I understand that and also have a job to do,” Hackenberg said, via Pro Football Talk. “Ultimately, I have to continue to trust in myself, trust in the situation I’m in and continue to get better and continue to grow.”

Panthers

  • The Panthers officially made a number of changes to their staff, including hiring Bryan Porter as director of football operations, Mike Anderson as assistant director of football operations, Rob Hanrahan as a pro scout, and David Turner as BLESTO scout.
