Giants

  • According to Jordan Raanan, the Giants appear to be set on giving Aldrick Rosas a shot to be their kicker this season.
  • Raanan mentions that DE Owa Odighizuwa will likely be competing for a roster spot this summer and playing time along with Romeo Okwara, Kerry Wynn, and fourth-round pick Avery Moss.
  • The Giants have B.J. Goodson and Keenan Robinson competing for the middle linebacker job.
  • Earlier in the week, the Giants officially changed Mark Herzlich‘s number now that he’s focusing on playing offseason. Raanan says that it would be a surprise to him being a serious option for New York at tight end now that they used a first-round pick on Evan Engram.

Redskins

Last week, Peter King of the MMQB.com reported that the 49ers offered the Redskins their second, third and fourth round pick in return for the No. 17 overall selection. However, the Redskins elected to stay where they were and draft DL Jonathan Allen.

When asked about the report, Redskins HC Jay Gruden said: “That’s news to me.

“I don’t know where he got that, he wasn’t in our draft room. I never heard the phone ring,” Gruden said, via CSN Mid-Atlantic.

Gruden sounds pretty happy they were able to get Allen where they did.

Really, never in a million years did we think he would be there at 17, but we’re happy-as-heck he was. There was not a lot of debate in there – we put the card in and took a heck-of-a football player and a great person,” Gruden said of Allen.
