NFL Notes: China, Browns, Packers

China

Daniel Kaplan of the Sports Business Daily reports that the NFL is postponing the proposed game to be played in China during the 2018 and targeting a possible date in 2019.

“It may make better sense to look at that game as an opportunity to celebrate our hundred years, in the event we can pull it off and as a way to look forward to the future,” NFL executive VP Mark Waller said.

The Rams are slated to be the home team for this game, which was agreed to as part of the deal that allowed them to relocate to Los Angeles.

Kaplan says that the NFL may, in fact, open that the 2019 season, which happens to be the NFL’s 100th anniversary, in China.

Browns

Browns WRs coach Al Saunders mentioned that he’s eager to see former first-round WR Corey Coleman get healthy and show what he can do in their offense.

“I’m disappointed for him that he can’t continue to grow in the fundamentals and skills at his position,” Saunders said, via Cleveland.com. “He missed a significant amount of time last training camp (with a hamstring). He missed significant amount of time during the season and his growth and development, he was having a terrific OTA session and then he got hurt. I’m sure that he’ll be back for training camp ready to go and he’s just got to get his hamstring stronger and get himself in shape.”

Coleman has dealt with shoulder and hamstring issues this offseason, but Saunders is still hopeful he’ll be healthy.

“I’m hoping that he’ll be healthy,” Saunders said. “That’s why we have the best trainers and the best doctors and the best medical staff in the National Football League. That’s their job to get him healthy and he wants to be healthy.

Packers

Packers DL Letroy Guion was recently arrested in Hawaii. During his arrest, Guion reportedly smelled of alcohol and marijuana, stumbled when he walked and spoke with slurred speech when police pulled him.

Please sir, it’s my birthday,” Guion told an officer, via the Associated Press. “I can have someone else drive.

Guion was drifting between lanes when he was pulled over.

I know I’m drunk,” Guion told the officer. “I’ve been drinking Hennessy all night. I don’t drink any of that weak stuff, only the hard stuff.

Guion gave his wallet to his girlfriend upon being arrested and told her to bail him out of jail.
