NFL Notes: Colin Kaepernick, 49ers, Broncos, Eagles

Colin Kaepernick

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports that free agent QB Colin Kaepernick has agreed to attend the next meeting between the players and NFL owners sometime next week to continue talks about the league’s engagement in social activism efforts.

According to Robinson, this is actually the second time Kaepernick has been invited to the meetings by members of the players’ coalition, but he declined their first invite due to some confusion over whether the NFL was open to him being in attendance.

“We look forward to him joining the conversation,” NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said Wednesday.

49ers

Veteran LT Joe Staley said he isn’t thinking about the possibility he could be traded ahead of next week’s deadline and added that he’s still hoping to play the remainder of his career in San Francisco.

“I don’t pay attention to it at all,” Staley said, per Nick Wagoner. “It’s never been easier or harder (to hear), I just don’t pay attention to it. We’re not really in control of all that stuff.”

  • However, Reid, who is in a contract year, admitted that he’s frustrated by the fact that the 49ers haven’t told him whether he’s in their long-term plans or not.

Broncos

  • Broncos RB Jamaal Charles tells Nicki Jhabvala that he wants to play another two seasons in the NFL.
  • Charles said he met with the Seahawks and 49ers this offseason, but both had concerns about his knees: “I guess they looked my knees on the MRIs and didn’t feel like it was a safe move for them.” (Nicki Jhabvala)

Eagles

  • Todd Archer reports that the Eagles attempted to sign TE Blake Jarwin off of the Cowboys’ practice squad, which is why Dallas promoted him to their active roster on Thursday and released backup QB Kellen Moore. (NFLTR)
