NFL Notes: Colin Kaepernick, Broncos, Packers, & Texans

Colin Kaepernick

Cam Inman of Mercury News takes a look at 10 potential landing spots for current 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick should San Francisco elect to move on without him next year.

According to Inman, the teams that could have some level of interest in Kaepernick include: Eagles, Broncos, Browns, Jets, Texans, Redskins, Lions, Rams, Bills and Cowboys.

Broncos

Free agent DE Malik Jackson said he hopes to remain with the Broncos after this season.

“I mean, I would love to stay here. I would really love to stay here,” Jackson said, via DenverBroncos.com. “But at the end of the day, all I can do is just talk with my pads and with my play. Hopefully we can talk and agree on something.

Packers

  • Bob McGinn reports that the Packers did not express any interest in TE Vernon Davis before the recent trade deadline, despite the fact that they could use some more help at the position.

Texans

Texans HC Bill O’Brien told reporters on Friday that OLB Jadeveon Clowney is unlikely to play on Monday night due to a back injury.

He’s dealing with a back issue and it’s painful, so we’ve got to give it a little more time,” coach Bill O’Brien said, via Pro Football Talk. “I would say he would be unlikely to play on Monday night though.”

Clowney has dealt with a number of injuries since the Texans used the No. 1 overall pick on him last year.

“[I]t hasn’t been easy for him,” O’Brien said. “No question about it. He’s had to deal with some injures early in his career. You don’t wish that on anybody. He’s in there right now trying to get better, trying to get treatment, trying to get back out on the field. Injuries are part of the game, and when they happen to young players it’s important for young players to really learn how to deal with it and try to get over it and that’s what he’s doing. He’s working with the trainers to get treatment and trying to get back out on the field and help our team.”
