NFL Notes: Colin Kaepernick, Cowboys, Rams, Seahawks

Colin Kaepernick

On Monday, former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick announced via his Twitter account that he wants to be part of Diddy’s ownership group if he seriously pursues purchasing the Carolina Panthers.

Cowboys

  • Joel Corry mentions that the Cowboys would be justified in asking WR Dez Bryant to take a pay cut after the season.
  • Corry points out that Bryant is set to make $12.5M in both 2018 and 2019, even though his production has dropped off considerably since signing his big-money extension.

Rams

  • Joel Corry believes Rams DT Aaron Donald would be justified in asking Los Angeles to adjust the current non-quarterback contract benchmarks to the 2018 cap for making him play out the 2017 season under his rookie contract.
  • Corry mentions that this would cost the Rams roughly $23.5 million per year, $80M in total guarantees and at least $60M fully guaranteed at signing to beat DT Ndamukong Suh‘s contract with the Dolphins.

Seahawks

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll told reporters on Monday that LB K.J. Wright is no longer in the concussion protocol and should be fine for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. (Bob Condotta)
  • Carroll added that LB Bobby Wagner will be limited again in practice this week and came out of Sunday’s game “no worse off” physically. (Bob Condotta)
  • Carroll admitted that the trades for LB Duane Brown and DT Sheldon Richardson haven’t worked out as they had hoped up to this point based on how things have played out with injuries this year. (Bob Condotta)
