NFL Notes: Colin Kaepernick, Patriots, Saints, Seahawks

Colin Kaepernick

Many have called for free agent QB Colin Kaepernick to publicly address whether he still wants to play in the NFL.

Kaepernick did just that in a recent interview with Shaun King of the New York Daily News.

“Yes. I’ve never stopped,” Kaepernick said when asked if he wants to keep playing football. “I’m ready right now. Working out daily.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.

Patriots

  • Patriots LB Dont’a Hightower was inactive with a knee injury for Sunday’s game against the Saints.
  • According to Jeff Howe, the Patriots aren’t going to rush Hightower back onto the field and his absence could extend beyond today.

Saints

Saints HC Sean Payton tells Jane Slater of NFL Network that he doesn’t  think they ever discussed a featured role for Adrian Peterson before they signed him to a contract.

“I don’t think we’ve ever discussed featuring him like he was featured in Minnesota,” Payton told Jane Slater of NFL Network. “And yet our hopes obviously are that we have more than fifty snaps like we did a week ago. It’s tough when you have eight possessions. I felt like two-thirds of the call sheet we didn’t even get to so we ended up in a hurry-up mode in the last part of the game. Hopefully we have that balance that we’re looking for and we’ll see how that goes.

Seahawks

  • Seahawks RB Eddie Lacy was a healthy inactive for Sunday’s game against the 49ers, despite the fact this is just the second game of the season.
  • Mike Garafolo points out that Lacy has $1 million in per-game 46-man roster bonuses including in his contract, which means he’ll $62,500 for not being active today.
