NFL Notes: Colts, Rams, & Saints

Colts

  • According to the Palm Beach Post, Colts OC Rob Chudzinski is among the “between six and 10” candidates that will seriously be considered for the vacant head coaching position at the University of Miami.

Rams

  • HC Jeff Fisher expects QB Nick Foles to play again for the Rams, even though he was benched today in favor of QB Case Keenum, saying: “Nick (Foles) also understands that he eventually will be under center for us again.” (Jim Thomas)
  • The Rams have lost OT Darrell Williams and G Jamon Brown for the rest of the season with a dislocated wrist and a leg fracture, respectively. (Howard Balzer)
  • Fisher also noted DE Chris Long is expected to practice this week, saying: “We’ll see where it goes.” Long hasn’t played since Oct. 11.  (Nick Wagoner)

Saints

Saints HC Sean Payton explained the team’s decision to fire DC Rob Ryan Monday night in an interview with WWL-AM.

“I’m disappointed for Rob that it didn’t work out,” Payton said, via The Times-Picayune. “He’s a guy who’s respected greatly, not only in the locker room, but by his peers and we just had to at some point look closely and begin to at least give this an option because the direction we were going wasn’t good. We really struggled with substitutions, getting lined up and getting our guys the defensive call and being able to function.”
