NFL Notes: Cowboys, Dolphins, Giants, Ravens & Titans

 

Cowboys

• Backup QB Kyle Orton has already been fined $69,455 for missing the minicamp and $10,930 for missing his physical. (Todd Archer)
• Even so, Todd Archer expects Orton to be in attendance for training camp.
• “There’s little doubt who is running the Cowboys offense.” OC Scott Linehan is reportedly leading all of the team meetings. (Albert Breer)

Dolphins

• RB Daniel Thomas and TE Michael Egnew were both mentioned as veterans who could be on the bubble this year. (James Walker)

Giants

• DC Perry Fewell mentioned that one of the reasons they signed Jameel McClain this offseason was to provide some insurance in case LB Jon Beason suffered an injury. (Ebenezer Samuel)
• OC Ben McAdoo is expected to employ a “heavy dose of the running game” this season. (Ebenezer Samuel)

Ravens

• QB Joe Flacco has reportedly looked like “a better fit for [Gary] Kubiak’s offense than Ravens ever imagined.” (Albert Breer)
• First-round pick LB C.J. Mosley is expected to start alongside of veteran Daryl Smith barring an injury. (Bo Smolka)
• S Darian Stewart appears to be the “front-runner” to start at free safety given that he has been working with first-team defense during OTAs. (Bo Smolka)

Titans

• QB Jake Locker has “exceeded expectations” during offseason workouts and is “ahead of the curve” before training camp gets underway. (Jim Wyatt)
• The Titans’ front-seven has reportedly been an “impressive” unit thus far. (Jim Wyatt)
