NFL Notes: Cowboys, Giants, Jets, Ravens, & Redskins

Cowboys

  • Ed Werder reports that the Cowboys have signed Scott Linehan to a three-year deal that will make him their offensive coordinator.
  • According to Werder, Bill Callahan is expected to leave the team.

Giants

  • Paul Schwartz reports that the Giants have informed Bills DL coach Pepper Johnson he won’t be hired as their next defensive coordinator.

Jets

  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that new Jets GM Mike Maccagnan is “strongly considering” adding former Jaguars GM Gene Smith to his front office.
  • Schefter adds that the two of them are close.

Ravens

  • According to Aaron Wilson, another possibility for Ravens’ offensive coordinator position if Gary Kubiak leaves would be former Browns OC Kyle Shanahan.

Redskins

  • Mike Jones reports that there are no updates regarding the Redskins defensive coordinator search.
  • However, Jones adds that it remains unclear if they have set up an interview with former 49ers DC Vic Fangio.
  • According to Jones, Washington does have interest in possibly hiring Fangio as their defensive coordinator, which fits with numerous reports.
  • Jones admits that the Redskins could still end up with Chargers LBs coach Joe Barry as defensive coordinator.
