NFL Notes: Cowboys, Giants, Panthers, Saints, Vikings

Cowboys

  • Todd Archer expects HC Jason Garrett to be back next season, but admits that “nothing is ever official until pen is put to paper in these situations.
  • Archer admits that DC Rod Marinelli could end up in Tampa Bay with Lovie Smith next year, but he isn’t so sure MLB Rolando McClain will follow him.

Giants

  • Dan Graziano of ESPN writes that he “wouldn’t be surprised to see the Giants check in on free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh” next year, but he ultimately believes the price will be too high.
  • The Giants are likely to consider re-signing TE Daniel Fells, but probably at their price, according to Graziano.

Panthers

  • David Newton expects the Panthers to target a wide receiver at some point in next year’s draft.
  • Newton mentions that the possibility exists that they could use their first-round pick on the position, but it’s probably more likely that they would take an offensive tackle.
  • However, the exception to this could be if Alabama WR Amari Cooper was available to them.

Saints

Vikings

  • Ben Goessling expects P Jeff Locke to be back next season, but he’ll likely have competition.
  • Goessling believes linebacker should be at the top of the of Vikings list when it comes to draft needs.
  • Other potential draft targets for Minnesota could include a versatile safety, another big cornerback, offensive line help and possibly another running back.
