NFL Notes: Cowboys, Jets, Packers & Ravens

Cowboys

A long-time AFC general manager tells Mike Freeman of B/R that it really doesn’t matter who the Cowboys have at quarterback this year with the strength of their offense.

“It doesn’t matter who the Cowboys’ quarterback is,” the GM said. “That offense is set up right now so any swinging d–k could run it.

Sources explained to Freeman that the Cowboys haven’t just built a great offensive line, but possibly one of the best units of all time.

Beyond that, rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott is “having the best season any rookie runner ever has,” according to the general manager who spoke to Freeman.

Jets

  • Jason Cole of B/R reports that the Jets have no plans to be active at this year’s trade deadline, despite their poor start to the season.
  • Cole adds that the Jets won’t field offers for either WR Brandon Marshall or CB Darrelle Revis, and instead plan on looking for ways to improve their roster.

Packers

  • A prominent NFL source tells Jason Cole of B/R that the blame for the Packers’ offensive struggles rests solely on QB Aaron Rodgers.
  • Cole’s source explained that Rodgers is making the game too hard on himself and has stopped throwing on time and getting the offense out of rhythm.
  • Cole adds that this appears to be an issue that Green Bay can fix moving forward.

Ravens

  • Ravens HC John Harbaugh told reporters Wednesday that QB Joe Flacco has a right shoulder issue that kept him out of today’s practice.
  • Harbaugh said of Flacco’s status for Week 7: “I believe he has a legitimate chance to play.
  • Adam Schefter reports that Flacco has irritation in the joint of his throwing shoulder and the team decided to hold him out of practice to try to improve the situation.
