NFL Notes: Darrelle Revis, 5th Year Options, Bucs, Colts, Jaguars & Redskins

Darrelle Revis

Adam Schefter said on ESPN Radio Monday that it would surprise him if the Patriots picked up CB Darrelle Revis‘ $25 million cap charge for 2015.

However, Schefter added that Revis returning to New England is not out of the question.

“This is all comes down to what Darrelle Revis wants to do. He’s got a Super Bowl ring. His career has been validated. He’s got one more big score left; big score in terms of big contracts. So does he want to go take that big contract with a team like the New York Jets, who are dying to make a run at Darrelle Revis? Or the Buffalo Bills? Or is he willing to take less to go back to play with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and be in the environment he’s been in in New England? That’s a call that only he can make,” Schefter said.

“At this point in his career, he has made a ton of money. A ton of money — all together with marketing, contracts, he’s probably made $100 million. So what do you want to do in your very last big deal? That’s the decision that Darrelle Revis has to make.”

5th Year Options

• Fifth year options for the first-round quarterbacks in the 2012 NFL Draft — Colts QB Andrew Luck, Redskins QB Robert Griffin III and Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill — will cost $16.55 million. (Albert Breer)

Buccaneers

• The Buccaneers are attempting to rework S Dashon Goldson‘s contract, but they could release him if they cannot reach an agreement. (Roy Cummings)
• Greg Auman reports that the Buccaneers tendered a contract to exclusive-rights free agent LB Danny Lansanah.

Colts

• Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star mentions that there appears to be “motivation” from the Colts and impending free agent S Mike Adams that they’ll be able to get a deal done before the start of free agency.
• Holder anticipates CB Darius Butler to test the open market.

Jaguars

• Ryan O’Halloran reports that Jaguars remain in contract discussions with DE Tyson Alualu and LB J.T. Thomas.
• However, the Jaguars have yet to decide on tendering any of their restricted free agents, according to O’Halloran.

Redskins

• Dianna Marie Russini reports that free agent OLB Brian Orakpo is drawing “significant interest” from other teams, but he and the Redskins are still working on a new deal.
