NFL Notes: Darren Sharper, 49ers, Dolphins & Packers

Darren Sharper

Former NFL S Darren Sharper was sentenced to 18 years in prison after leading guilty to drugging and raping women.

They didn’t deserve anything being a part of my heinous decisions,” Sharper said, via The Advocate. “I still don’t know why I lived my life right for 38 years, and then I took this path.

Sharper originally agreed to serve nine years in prison, but U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo rejected this agreement.

In total, there were 16 victims who came forward. The crimes all took place after Sharper retired and was working as an NFL Network analyst.

49ers

  • 49ers HC Chip Kelly announced Thursday that QB Colin Kaepernick (dead arm) will practice next week and they plan on having him play in their third preseason game. (Ian Rapoport)

Dolphins

  • Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald mentions that the Dolphins could consider keeping seventh-round QB Brandon Doughty on their 53-man roster, due to how impressive he’s been up to this point.
  • Jackson admits it’s also possible Doughty could be a practice squad candidate, but the Dolphins would need to get him through waivers without being claimed.
