NFL Notes: Dez Bryant, Ray Rice, Eagles, & Texans

Dez Bryant

  • Jason Cole reports that the NFL has opened an investigation into the rumored Dez Bryant video.
  • Cole adds that the NFL has spoken to the police officer who responded to the indecent in question.

Ray Rice

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that former Ravens RB Ray Rice does not plan to attend the March 22 veteran combine.

Florio writes that it would make sense for Rice, who said he’s optimistic about getting a second chance in the NFL, to work out for teams and show them what kind of shape he’s in.

It certainly couldn’t hurt his chances of getting another shot.

Eagles

Eagles free agent WR Jeremy Maclin mentioned Saturday that he wants to be back in Philadelphia next year.

I’ve always said I want to be here in Philadelphia, but I’ve also always said I understand it’s a business,” Maclin said Saturday, via Les Bowen of Philly.com. “Both sides have made it known that we both want each other back, so the rest of it is in God’s hands. If it’s supposed to happen, it’ll happen. I want to be here.”

Texans

Texans ILB Brian Cushing tells the Houston Chronicle that he has undergone three separate surgeries since the season concluded to get ready for next year.

Left ankle, left knee — the same knee I’ve had all the issues with,” Cushing said. “…It’s not uncommon for stuff like that to happen. It’s just little things here and there, the residual effects of two major surgeries and injuries, the wear and tear of playing throughout the season.

“There were still some things bothering me a little bit. Just went in there and had real good success in both areas and looking forward to a very healthy and productive season.

Cushing added that he’s looking forward to OTAs and offseason workouts.
