NFL Notes: Dolphins, Eagles, Giants, & Texans

Dolphins

Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports that free agent acquisition DT Ndamukong Suh freelanced at times Sunday, creating confusion on the defense.

On top of that, Suh seemed to take issue with the team’s defensive approach against the Jaguars.

“I couldn’t tell you,” Suh said, when asked to explain his uninspired play. “At the end of the day, we have to go back to the drawing board and figure out what we want to run so guys can make plays and go from there.”

Eagles

  • Eagles free agent acquisition CB Byron Maxwell, who signed a six-year, $64M contract back in March, has been thrown at 19 times and has allowed 15 completions for 240 yards, two touchdowns, and a perfect passer rating of 158.3 this season. (Connor Hughes)

Giants

Giants HC Tom Coughlin said he was “frustrated” with the up and down play of QB Eli Manning to start the season.

“I mean there are times when it’s tremendous,” Coughlin said, via the New York Daily News “and then other times when it’s not. I’m frustrated like you are.”

Manning elected to try and change the play in the fourth quarter, which led to a delay of game penalty and aided the Falcons comeback.

There’s really no reason for that,” Coughlin said of Manning’s decision. “There was plenty of time when we were out over the ball. Plenty of time. The only reason I can offer is he’s changing the protection around and he loses track of the clock. But to go from third-and-7 with a legitimate chance – with quite frankly a good play call – to third-and-12?

Texans

Texans LT Duane Brown (thumb) said he is unsure if he will be able to play Week 3.

Not sure yet. We’re taking it a day at a time, seeing how it progresses,” Brown said, via the Houston Chronicle. “Hopefully. I’d like to get out there, but we’ll see.
