NFL Notes: Dolphins, Giants, Jets, Redskins

Dolphins

Dolphins OC Clyde Christensen said RB Jay Ajayi has not developed in the pass game as much as he’d like since Ajayi does not participate in every practice.

“It is kind of an issue (because) he doesn’t practice every single day,’’ Christensen said, via Roy Cummings of Florida Football Insiders.“So he probably needs the extra reps in the passing game, but when you get him out there you want to get your runs called.

Christensen admits that Ajayi has improved since last season, but he is still not “where we want him to be.”

“I mean, he’s still a million miles ahead of (where he was as a pass catcher) a year and a half ago when we first got here, but he’s not where we want him to be.’’

  • Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (ankle) is doubtful for Week 7 against the Jets.

Giants

Jets

  • Jets HC Todd Bowles said the team has considered resting DE Muhammad Wilkerson for a week to help him heal shoulder and toe injuries: “There’s been a thought. We discuss it day by day and week by week and go from there. But we don’t make anybody play that doesn’t want to play.” (Daniel Popper)

Redskins

  • Redskins HC Jay Gruden said RB Rob Kelly (knee) is expected to play in Monday night’s game and could start: “He’s doing good. If he plays, then yes, he will probably be back at number one.” (ProFootballTalk)
