NFL Notes: Draft, Bills, Cardinals, & Dophins

Draft

  • Jason Cole of B/R reports that NFL GMs, executives, and coaches around the league are all concerned about the lack of depth at tight end in this year’s draft.
  • According to Cole, Arkansas’ Hunter Henry is considered the best tight end in this year’s class, but is seen as more of a mid second-round pick.
  • Cole mentions that NFL teams are considering taking lesser talents at the position as high as the second round.
  • Stanford TE Austin Hooper has 20 visits lined up and could be the second tight end to come off the board, even though may only have been a third- or fourth-round pick in the past few years.

Bills

  • Peter Schrager reports that Bills’ brass dined with six Ohio State prospects on Thursday including: QB Cardale Jones, CB Eli Apple, LB Darron Lee, OT Taylor Decker, DT Adolphus Washington, and DB Vonn Bell.

Cardinals

  • According to Rand Getlin, the Cardinals worked out Eastern Washington offensive linemen Clay DeBord and Aaron Neary.

Dolphins

  • According to Armando Salguero, the Dolphins expect to receive third, fourth and seven-round compensatory picks in 2017 for losing players in free agency.
  • Miami is clearly focused on ensuring that they receive future compensatory picks, which means it’s unlikely they’ll make any major free agent additions until May 12 at the earliest.
  • Salguero also writes that the Dolphins’ interest in free agent CB Greg Toler is to ensure that they have some draft flexibility this year.
