NFL Notes: Draft, Broncos, Rams & Vikings

Draft

  • Matt Miller of B/R reports that Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer’s draft stock is “soaring” right now.
  • Should Kizer declare for the 2017 draft, Miller says that Kizer could end up being a top-pick.
  • Miller says that the only quarterback with more talent than Kizer is UCLA QB Josh Rosen, but NFL teams reportedly have a higher character grade on Kizer.

Broncos

  • Tom Pelissero reports that the Broncos signed QB Austin Davis to a one-year, $1.25 million contract with $100,000 guaranteed.

Rams

On Hard Knocks last night, Rams CB Lamarcus Joyner threatened to walk out on the team because of his role in their defense.

“I work hard,” Joyner told HC Jeff Fisher, via Pro Football Talk. “I do want to be starter. Ya’ll can have your money back. I don’t play football for money. Coach, I love this game.

“What’s my role? Be honest with me.”

Fisher responded by telling Joyner he wanted Joyner to be the team’s nickel cornerback.

“The nickel spot inside, it’s the hardest position to play,” Fisher told Joyner. “You’re the best that I’ve had here in years. It’s a starting position.

Joyner said that he wasn’t sold on the idea and his passion for the game was gone.

I want Lamarcus back,” Fisher said. “I’ve got to pull [the passion] back out of you.”

Vikings

  • Jason Cole of B/R reports that the Vikings are pushing newly acquired QB Sam Bradford to play in Week 1.
  • Cole admits that it would be difficult for Bradford to be ready for the season opener, but Minnesota is reportedly holding out hope he’ll be their starter.
