NFL Notes: Draft, Cowboys, Giants, Jaguars, Jets, & Titans

  • Lance Zierlein of NFL.com is hearing that TCU LB Paul Dawson will not be the first inside linebacker to be drafted.
  • According to Zierlein, Missouri G Mitch Morse is shooting up draft boards.
  • Zierlein also expects Wake Forest CB Kevin Johnson to be taken ahead of LSU CB Jalen Collins.

Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones said that their “No. 1 goal” is to sign WR Dez Bryant to a long-term contract.

“You have to be patient,”Jones said, per Jon Machota. “Our No. 1 goal is still to get him signed long-term.”

  • According to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, the Giants are “very high” on USC DL Leonard Williams.
  • Raanan mentions that in the event Williams is still on the board after the No. 3 overall pick, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Giants make the bold move to get him.

  • Jaguars HC Gus Bradley shot down the idea of them possibly trading for Vikings RB Adrian Peterson on Tuesday. (Mark Long)

  • Florida State DL Mario Edwards Jr. is visiting with the Jets. (Aaron Wilson)

  • Paul Kuharsky of ESPN reports that in the event the Buccaneers pass on Florida State QB Jameis Winston, he will be “in play” for the Titans at No. 2 overall.
  • According to Kuharsky, Tennessee has done their homework on Winston, and they feel he “checks out.”
