NFL Notes: Draft, Falcons, Jets, Panthers

Draft

  • Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com writes that the feeling he’s getting is that the gap between Ohio State’s Nick Bosa and the next best edge rusher is pretty significant.
  • According to Breer, Oregon’s Justin Herbert and Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins seem to have separated from the pack at quarterback.
  • Breer mentions that the talent at skill positions in next year’s draft “isn’t very good.” Breer lists Ole Miss’ A.J. Brown as the top receiver and Alabama’s Damien Harris as the top running back.
  • According to Breer, the offensive line class is expected to be good, but there isn’t a “can’t-miss left tackle” prospect.
  • Breer believes LSU linebacker Devin White could end up being the second best player in the draft.

Jets

  • The New York Jets tried out CFL LBs Jameer Thurman and James Vaughters last Friday. (Howard Balzer)

Falcons

Panthers

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot, injured reserve) underwent surgery this past week and will make a full recovery.
  • Olsen posted on his Instagram that “surgery went well and I am on my way towards a full recovery.
