NFL Notes: Draft, Falcons, Panthers, & Vikings

Draft

Peter King of MMQB.com spoke to some football people around the league who view this year’s draft class as a group that consists of “nine prime picks, then eight or 10 really good prospects, then maybe 30 or so of the same-level player.”

According to King, the top nine players include: QB Jameis Winston, QB Marcus Mariota, DT Leonard Williams, WR Kevin White, WR Amari Cooper, DE/OLB Dante Fowler, DE/OLB Vic Beasley, G Brandon Scherff, and CB Trae Waynes.

  • King expects Georgia RB Todd Gurley to be drafted within the top-25 picks.
  • Matt Miller reports that FSU DT Eddie Goldman has pre-draft scheduled visits with the Browns, 49ers, Colts, Lions, Panthers and Patriots
  • Tom Pelissero reports that Hobart OL Ali Marpet will participate in work outs for the Giants and Jets.

Falcons

Panthers

  • Josina Anderson reports that the Panthers are working out Nebraska DE/OLB Randy Gregory on Monday.

Vikings

  • Peter King believes the Vikings should trade RB Adrian Peterson for a second-round pick given that he’s 30 years old and stands to make $45 million over the next three years.
  • King adds that this year’s class of running backs is pretty good.
