NFL Notes: Draft, Giants, Packers, Patriots

Draft

  • East Carolina LB Dayon Pratt met with Chiefs, Chargers, Colts, Redskins, Ravens and Buccaneers at his Pro Day. (Aaron Wilson)

Giants

  • Giants VP Steve Tisch confirmed reports that they have an offer on the table to free agent DT Johnathan Hankins and added that they no plans to pull it: “I want it to work out.” (Ralph Vacchiano)
  • Tisch mentioned that “there’s no urgency” in regards to finding Eli Manning‘s replacement but he added that “it’s in the back of everybody’s mind.” (Ralph Vacchiano)

Packers

Packers GM Ted Thompson admitted that running back is among the positions that they still need to add some help at this offseason.

We’re a little short in a couple of areas. So from a personnel standpoint, we’ve got to get some more bodies. But we like the guys that we have, it’s just that we’d like to get some more,” Thompson said, via ESPN.com. “…We’ve got a little time here to get some more [running backs].”

Thompson wouldn’t, however, comment on the possibility of signing Adrian Peterson, who has come up as a potential option for Green Bay in recent weeks.

Patriots

  • Patriots owner Bob Kraft told reporters on Monday that he hopes CB Malcolm Butler is back with the team for the 2017 season and added that their intention isn’t to trade him. (Nick Underhill)
  • Kraft mentioned that Brandin Cooks is the most dynamic receiver they’ve had since Randy Moss. (Nick Underhill)
  • In regards to HC Bill Belichick, Kraft said: “I hope he coaches into his 80s. I see Warren Buffett and Rupert Murdoch in their mid 80s and they’re performing well.” (Albert Breer)
  • According to Kraft, Tom Brady told him as a recently as a few days ago that he would be willing to play another six or seven more years. (Dave Birkett)
