Draft

Raiders

  • Earlier in the week, Don Van Natta Jr. and Seth Wickersham of ESPN published an extensive look at how Raiders owner Mark Davis was able to gain approval to relocate the team to Las Vegas.
  • According to the report, a few NFL owners were hoping Davis would give the city of Oakland another chance to keep the team in the Bay Area.
  • One scenario proposed was the league paying for a stadium to built in Oakland that included the stipulation that Davis would sell the Raiders in five to seven years. However, Davis wasn’t interest in this idea.

Titans

  • Jason Cole of B/R mentions that the Titans’ recent decision to release veteran CB Jason McCourty is a clear indication that they’re looking to add a cornerback in this year’s draft.
  • Cole says that free agent acquisition Logan Ryan is unlikely to serve as the team’s No. 1 cornerback in 2017.
  • As for McCourty, Cole mentions that several teams have already inquired about him. (NFLTR)

Vikings

Vikings DE Brian Robison tells Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press that it’s likely his playing career will be over after the 2018 season.

“I really do believe that probably at the end of those two years, it will be it,’’ Robison said. “It’ll be about my time to call it (a career), but we’ll see how I feel when I get there. … But I would say that more than likely, that will probably be the time that I’m going to have to lay things to the side and get ready for life after football.’’

Robison agreed to a restructured contract with Minnesota earlier this offseason.

“It was an opportunity for both sides to get what they wanted,’’ Robison said of his reworked contract. “Something you don’t necessarily see in this league anymore is loyalty on both sides. … I had a long talk with (general manager) Rick Spielman, We were on the phone for probably 45 minutes, just discussing it.

“I understood what was going on, but at the same time they wanted me to know there was nothing I did wrong or anything like that. They just felt it was an opportunity that could work out for both sides, and I 100 percent agreed with them.’’
