NFL Notes: Draft, Veteran Combine, Free Agents, Jim Harbaugh & Lions

Draft

  • Georiga announced Thursday that RB Nick Chubb, RB Sony Michel, OLB Lorenzo Carter, and OLB Davin Bellamy are all returning to Athens for the 2017 season.

Veteran Combine

  • Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the NFL is bringing back the veteran combine in 2017 after shutting it down this past offseason.
  • According to Garafolo, the event will be held in Phoenix next March and will be called the “Pro Player Combine“.
  • The main difference with this event is that it will be limited to players who signed their first contract between 2014-2016, which means there won’t be any aging veterans on hand.

Free Agents

Field Yates of ESPN (Insider) takes a look at some free agents who are likely to secure more money than you would assume next year.

Yates’ list includes:

Jim Harbaugh

  • Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports that the widespread feeling within the NFL is that Jim Harbaugh will eventually return to the NFL at some point.
  • However, Breer has no idea of when that will be. The expectation remains that NFL teams will continue to contact him regarding head-coaching vacancies for the time being, but it sounds like he’s content in Ann Arbor for the foreseeable future.
