NFL Notes: Dwayne Bowe, Bills, Browns, & Buccaneers

Dwayne Bowe

Despite a report from last night that veteran WR Dwayne Bowe was on the roster bubble, Browns HC Mike Pettine told reports that Bowe is not in danger of being cut.

Dwayne? No,” Pettine said via Cleveland.com when asked after the game if Bowe’s roster spot was in jeopardy. “He just needed to work, so that’s why he was out there.”

Bills

Bills GM Doug Whaley refuted the notion that he acted along in released veteran RB Fred Jackson.

“So he was in there with me when we told him together,” Whaley said, via Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News“Talked to the running backs coach (Anthony Lynn). So it wasn’t just me waking up one day and deciding, ‘Hey, I want to do this.’”

Browns

Jason Fitzgerald reports that the Browns and DT Phil Taylor agreed to a three week injury settlement for just under $970,000 earlier in the week.

Taylor has since met with the Steelers, but a report said that they’re concerned about his knee and have no plans of signing the former first-round pick.

Buccaneers

  • According to Rick Stroud, Buccaneers WR Kenny Bell’s hamstring injury is severe enough that he could be placed on season-ending injured reserve.
