NFL Notes: Eagles, Jaguars, Steelers

Eagles

Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham is well aware of his situation this summer now that the team has brought in much more competition at the receiver position.

“I’m looking at the numbers,” Green-Beckham said, via Jeff McLane of Philly.com, “but I really haven’t had the chance to actually get the [opportunities] just getting there last year. I’m just getting the feel for playing with this team.”

Green-Beckham believes the additions of Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith may actually benefit him, despite the increased competition.

“I just knew it was going to be a lot of competition in the room hearing that,” Green-Beckham said. “I looked at it like I could take advantage of those guys and use them as resources.”

While his opportunities are limited, he still believes things have gone well for him so far.

“I don’t really get a lot of opportunities at practice,” Green-Beckham said, “but I feel like everything on my end is going pretty good.”

Jaguars

• Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union writes that Jaguars OL Patrick Omameh’s tape from last year should give him the opportunity to compete for the starting left guard position with Earl Watford and A.J. Cann.
• O’Halloran believes the new four-year, $38 million extension that included $20 million guaranteed signed by Browns LB Christian Kirksey should serve as a barometer for negotiations between the Jaguars and LB Telvin Smith.

Steelers

Steelers RB Knile Davis mentioned that Le’Veon Bell’s absence from OTAs and third-round pick James Conner being out with a groin injury has helped give him an opportunity to get acclimated to a new offense.

”That’s really been helping me out,” Davis said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It’s been good, doing a lot of learning. I’ve been getting better every day.”

Davis added that he’s very confident” and is looking to redeem himself with this opportunity.

“No doubt, I’m ready to get back on the scene,” said Davis. “I’m comfortable playing the game. I know a lot more about the game. It’s my fifth year. I’m very confident. I know what’s going on, on and off the field, the business side of it. It’s like a coming back party. I’d like to redeem myself, for sure.”
