NFL Notes: Extensions, Browns, Dolphins, Lions

Extensions

Joel Corry of CBS Sports takes a look at the top 10 star players and their chances of signing long-term extensions before the start of the 2017 season in his latest article.

Some of the players worth keeping an eye on in the coming months include:

Browns

  • Browns RB Isaiah Crowell said he’s still hoping to get a long-term deal done at some point: “We’re trying to get something done. And get it done right.” (Scott Petrak)
  • Crowell did say that he expects to have a “monster year” for the Browns. (Tony Grossi)

Dolphins

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry told reporters that they’ve had some “back and forth” regarding a long-term extension, but there’s nothing considered imminent at this point in time.

“We talked back and forth, but there’s nothing really going on,” Landry said, via the Miami Herald. “We’re just really kind of focusing on right now, today. That’s the priority right now.”

Lions

  • Lions HC Jim Caldwell said they’ve moved away from the fullback position in their offense scheme, which is why they recently cut Michael Burton. (Tim Twentyman)
  • Caldwell also mentioned that they’ve moved Alex Carter to safety permanently and believe his size and skill set will work well at the position. (Tim Twentyman)
