NFL Notes: Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys, Rams, Titans

Ezekiel Elliott

Ian Rapoport reports that Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott will give his testimony to arbitrator Harold Henderson at his appeals hearing on Tuesday under oath.

  • Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk believes there is a “very good chance” Elliott plays Week 1, given that he will take the case to court if he loses the appeal and seek an injunction that would allow him to play in the time being.

Cowboys

  • Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan that it’s “very likely” they will keep three quarterbacks — Dak Prescott, Kellen Moore, Cooper Rush — on their 53-man roster to open the year. (Clarence Hill)

Rams

Rams WR Tavon Austin believes the recent addition of Sammy Watkins will prove to be a good thing for the team and make it harder on opposing defenses.

“I definitely don’t feel no type of way to nobody,” Austin said, via ESPN.com. “To be honest, I look at the good side. A couple years I’ve been here, we’ve only had two or three guys that they were looking at. Now, they have to defend the whole field. It’s a long season, it’s a tough game, and that’s how I look at it. If it’s my time in the beginning, it’s my time in the beginning. If it’s at the end, it’s at the end. I’m definitely being patient. I know what this sport brings. Next man up. And that’s how it go. But I definitely will not quit, ever. That’s what it is with me.”

Titans

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Titans first-round WR Corey Davis (hamstring) is expected to be ready for the opener.
